1962 Porsche 356 BT6 "Notchback"
Basic information and history
Porsche 356 BT6 in the very unusual "Notchback" version. The model's real name is actually the Karmann Hardtop Coupé and was only built in 1961 and 1962 and was a model developed primarily for the American market. It differs from a regular 356B as it is based on the cabriolet chassis. According to manufacturing data, just under 600 copies have been built. How many of these remain today remains to be seen, but online information suggests that just under 60 remain of the few that were produced in 1962. Most of those produced left the factory in 1961. The vehicle was imported back in 2016 and has since been refurbished by the three owners. The current owner, who has unfortunately passed away, finished the car to its current condition. The car has been inspected by a knowledgeable Porsche specialist who compiled a small list of remaining work:
- Starter motor needs to be refurbished or replaced. When the engine is hot, the function is uncertain
- Control of the electrical system's functions. (no brake light)
- Oil and compression leak right cylinder
- Control inspection
The following work has been carried out by the same specialist:
- Adjusted carburetor
- Change the clutch plate
- Change the tachometer
- Installed fuel filter
This vehicle is being sold as the owner has unfortunately passed away. Information is therefore somewhat sparse compared to our other objects. Bidders Highway makes every effort to answer any questions that may be raised.
